5 areas to focus your 2017 MIPS strategy [1-min. video]

If you're nervous about the first year of MIPS (Merit-based Incentive Payment System), you're not alone. While most providers can get behind "quality over quantity," the continued move toward quality-based payments can be stressful, especially in the initial 2017 transition period. Luckily, we have your back: a one-minute video of expert guidance from Nordic Senior Consultant Gigi Elizee, on how to build a MIPS submission strategy for maximum Medicare reimbursement.

Check out the video above, which lists five areas of critical importance for planning your MIPS strategy for 2017:

Program governance

In terms of program governance, we know that organizations that are successful with quality reporting programs have strategies in place to manage the complexities and ever-evolving nature of these kinds of programs. They’re able to manage communication, change management, and stakeholder education, while being flexible enough to pivot as these programs evolve.

Measure selection

Measure selection is really about identifying those measures that are best-suited for your practice, including your patient population, any existing technologies like your EHR or registries, existing workflows, and overall performance.

Workflow redesign and optimization

As you're considering measures appropriate for your practice, it's a good time to examine some of your worklows to see where you can redesign processes and optimize your EHR to appropriately capture those measures, improve performance, and increase provider satisfaction.

Measure submission

Not all measures are created equal, so it’s important to take this opportunity to understand the submission methods associated with each of the measures you’ve selected, with a focus on maximizing your MIPS point earnings as part of this process.

Audit readiness

We know that CMS intends to audit clinicians on an annual basis, and we know from previous Meaningful Use audits it’s important that your documentation is complete, and that it accurately represents the measures you’ve selected for the appropriate time frame.

Now, whether you need help with one, some, or all of these areas, we’re ready to meet you where you are. Please let us know if you’d like any more information.
