Panel Discussion: Addressing Digital Disparities as a Part of Digital Transformation

Monday, March 11, 10:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. ET

Location: W230A

Panelist

Healthcare systems prioritize digital transformation to enhance service delivery. By adopting advanced technologies, they aim to revolutionize healthcare management and accessibility. It's vital to address digital disparities, which can cause unequal technological access based on geography, age, or socioeconomic factors. Ensuring digital literacy and equity is essential; without them, the digital divide may grow. The session is moderated by UC Irvine CMIO and Associate Professor Deepti Pandita, MD, and features Nordic Chief Medical Officer Craig Joseph, MD, along with Director of Research at HIMSS Alexandra Wright and Director of IT Clinical Systems at Memorial Health Systems Ganesh Persad. They’ll explore how to approach transformation correctly to foster digital equity.

Session: Opening the Digital Front Door to Transform Outpatient Care

Wednesday, March 13, 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. ET

Location: W204A

Speaker

  • Mary Sirois Performance Improvement Managing Director, Nordic

Technology plays a critical role in delivering a high-quality patient experience that meets consumer demands and drives business value. Many health organizations are employing digital front-door strategies to improve patient satisfaction, expand care access, optimize resource allocation, and reduce unnecessary care. Digital front door offerings can enable a streamlined patient flow at every major touchpoint, from scheduling and pre-arrival to arrival, check-in and check-out, and even follow-up services. This session will explore how a community health system in Arlington, Virginia, designed and implemented a transformed, concierge-like, digitally enabled patient experience as part of its new outpatient pavilion. The efforts helped eliminate waste, advance quality and safety, and reduce costs for patients. Speakers Mary Sirois, Nordic Performance Improvement Managing Director, and Mike Mistretta, SVP and CIO at VHC Health, will share early results from the first six months of operation, as well as key challenges, lessons learned around IT and operational change management, and useful success metrics.
